So yeah, started the second Blight Drone.
Keep in mind this is very, very (very) WIP.
My aim is to make this second Drone to look different to the first, so I cracked out the GS along with a knife, a saw and some sugar.
I filled in some of the 'wounds' on the body as well as adding some fleshy growths (as I did on the first in different areas). As you can see I have removed all of the cables, I will be adding new ones as before but in a different configuration. Also added a bit of sugar to the carapace to give a different texture.
For the other half of the body I took a saw to it to change the shape, I wanted it more stretched out so give me the pose I wanted with it mounted on the base. Keep in mind I haven't finished the GS yet, esp the area lower left.
I made a start on the base. Same sized MDF disc with one of the cast ruins added. Brass rod runs through the ruin and through the MDF. Again I stress this is very WIP, so work in progress progress can barely be claimed to of taken place.
And with the Drone blu-tac'd in place...
Fingers crossed i'll get a bit more done tomorrow worthy of another update.

Recalcitrant Daze - Bit quiet & Realm of Chaos!
For me it's been a pretty long break between posts. This isn't down to me not doing anything it's just that I haven't had anything to do a post about.
First off though some news. Over the years of doing this hobby (since the late 80's) I have made mistakes by not buying certain things that I have spent the years since wishing I had. One of these was Jes Goodwins sketchbook (the Gothic and the Eldrich) which I managed to pick up just before Christmas. One of the other things was a set of books...
I finally managed to get hold of a set last week and they arrived today. Included in those pages are the articles on Beastmen Warbands and Minotaur Warbands that I first read in the very earliest White Dwarfs I bought (if only it was still worth buying) and hooked me into this hobby (along with the Jes Goodwin Eldar sketches in WD#127).
So anyway, over the last week I have mainly been doing moulds and casts.
At the moment I am halfway through casting a couple of gun emplacements - one bought and one for the Rivet Off competition winner.
I have also decided to redo all of my pillar casts. You may remember I did a full set of pillars to try out Zone Motalis, I later did a much improved design of pillar to sell moulds of. Well I have decided as it will be a while before I have time (or room) to do a 'proper' Zone Mortalis board I thought I would do myself a couple of moulds of the Mk II design and cast myself a full set. The Mk II is more user friendly and easier to store. The old casts will be recycled.
I now need to rebase the Mk II master, after doing so many moulds it is ripping free of its styrene base.
The project that took up a lot of time this week was taking this GW ruin from an old Edition of 40k (4th Ed?), filling in the majority of the sculpted damage and then doing a two part mould for it:
And the result is the four casts below:
One of the ruins will become the base of the second Blight Drone, the rest will be used in various states as terrian pieces. Breaking some of them up will allow me to produce larger ruins. My gaming board currently lacks something like this as the scatter terrain currently is just hills and trees (not including fortifications). When I eventually build the Chaos Warhound I am sure the base of that will feature some ruins as well.
That is about it for now. I have more casting to do, this time in plaster so I doubt there will be another update for a few days. I hope to get some more Nurgle stuff in soon though so you never know what may appear.
Also coming in the next couple of weeks another Ork commission, the base vehicles are on order so it shouldn't be long before they start appearing on RD.

That GUO looks so cute. |
Chaos Squats! Ah the memories... |
If you could still take units like this in a Nurgle 40k army I would be over it like, appropriately, a rash. |

Blessings of the Plaguefather - Blight Drone 7
So I think the Blight Drone is now done (except I need to putsome black in the end of the weapons, that can wait though as I can't be arsed to take all new pictures again).
So I added oil washes and rust. Please note I did not attempt to add 'realistic' rust as I would for say a tank, my thoughts are this is a Deamonically Possessed vehicle in the service of Nurgle, as such it would not naturally it would rust to the whim of Nurgle itself.
So pics...
Few close ups:
So yeah, need to add a bit of black but that can wait as I have a second Drone to do. Got an idea for the base but will need to do a mould or two first...

Blessings of the Plaguefather - Blight Drone 6
And the Blight Drone returns to the painting desk once more...
So I reckon the base is now done. Again it isn't brilliant but I am basically happy with it. May go back later and touch up here and there.
I wanted something a bit different for the tree itself. As well as being the Drone base the tree on this is also the prototype scheme for all of the trees I have to paint for the gaming table. As the gaming table is quite muted and dark I wanted the trees to bring something else.
And with the Drone in place it looks like this...
Next up will be to get back onto the drone itself. Add rust, oil paints, magnetise the weapons and do anything else I haven't done yet.

Recalcitrant Daze - 20 Months.
20 Months, imagine the crimes you could of done to get that sentence.
Anyway, short monthly post this time round as I can't think of much worth saying.
The last month has seen the Karrier being completed and to be honest not much else, although I did get back onto the Quest figures starting with the Ghouls.
Since the Karrier got posted off I have mainly been catching up with reading (DA Codex, Betrayal, Monstrous Arcanum) and planning out the eventual Heresy force.
So what has the next month got coming?
Well mainly painting. Shocking I know. I have some Ogres to do for Quest and finish the Blight Drone. In addition to that I have more Nurgle bits to build & paint plus the next Orky commission to start.
To finish here are a few blogs I have recently started following. Not done it for a while so thought now would be a good time...
Almost Perftec - Great DV figures
The Sons of Dorn - Lovely Pre Heresy Imperial Fists and Krieg
The Unrealistic Artist - Latest project a great Valkyrie
That'll do. Started painting the Blight Drone base tonight and undercoated the Oggies. So you might get an update soon, however i'm out most of the weekend so I doubt it'll be before Monday...

Warhammer Quest - Part Three
So Ghouls are pretty much done *
* While taking the pictures I spotted I hadn't done their sodding eyes.
So all seven in a bunch:
And close ups of the six I did tonight:
As I mentioned last time I wasn't aiming for anything other than 'table top' quality so while I know they could be a lot better they are fit for purpose.
Next up on the Quest front will be the four Ogres I put together from scavenged parts:

Warhammer Quest - Part Two
Well since finishing the Karrier I haven't been up to much model wise. I have mainly been catching up with some reading (DA Codex, Betrayal for example) and recharging batteries.
However before getting into anything big (such as the Nurgle army) I thought I would knock out the ghouls for Warhammer Quest.
Got one the first one finished third evening. I'll now crack on with doing the remaining six in one go.
Now I am not killing myself over these. They are purely 'table top standard' and I want to them to be nice and easy to finish. As long as they look ok on the board that is fine with me. As such be forgiving when you comment on the pictures above...
I added liberal amounts of blood and plenty of washes to make them down and dirty. I don't think ghouls shuffling around in an underground dungeon to be that bothered about personal hygiene...
The remaining ghouls are ready to go. For extra security I will snipping the pin that they are attached to for painting so it can be used to pin them to their bases.
Talking of bases they are almost done as I did all seven in one go.
Hopefully next update will see them all done.
