Warhammer Quest - Part Three

So Ghouls are pretty much done *

* While taking the pictures I spotted I hadn't done their sodding eyes.

So all seven in a bunch:

And close ups of the six I did tonight:

Who's been a dirty ghoul? You have, you've been a dirty ghoul.
Dirty.

As I mentioned last time I wasn't aiming for anything other than 'table top' quality so while I know they could be a lot better they are fit for purpose.

Next up on the Quest front will be the four Ogres I put together from scavenged parts:

Don't like painting.

Warhammer Quest - Part Two

Well since finishing the Karrier I haven't been up to much model wise. I have mainly been catching up with some reading (DA Codex, Betrayal for example) and recharging batteries.

However before getting into anything big (such as the Nurgle army) I thought I would knock out the ghouls for Warhammer Quest.

Got one the first one finished third evening. I'll now crack on with doing the remaining six in one go.

Grrr.
Now I am not killing myself over these. They are purely 'table top standard' and I want to them to be nice and easy to finish. As long as they look ok on the board that is fine with me. As such be forgiving when you comment on the pictures above...

I added liberal amounts of blood and plenty of washes to make them down and dirty. I don't think ghouls shuffling around in an underground dungeon to be that bothered about personal hygiene...

The remaining ghouls are ready to go. For extra security I will snipping the pin that they are attached to for painting so it can be used to pin them to their bases.

Talking of bases they are almost done as I did all seven in one go.

Hopefully next update will see them all done.

Warhammer Quest - Part One...

...descending into the Dungeon (like Max Mosley, but without the uniforms).

As mentioned in my monthly roundup post I will be knocking out some Warhammer figures to use in Warhammer Quest.

A quick search provided the first models i'll be doing.

Five Ogres, had to order some replacement arms.

Seven Ghouls, again had to order some replacement arms.

The first ones i'll be painting though will be these skeletons. Have to say the old GW skellies are horrible. Naff poses, naff weapons and stupidly large skulls.

I have also improved the weapons a bit, by improved I mean roughed up. They looked far too neat and brand new for warriors who had dragged themselves from under the ground. I can't see the undead spending much time taking care of their hand weapons.

Part of our plan for the Quest stuff is to have bases matching throughout.

For this Maelstrom (from The Rising Sign) sculpted some 20 & 25mm bases, I did a mould for these and tonight I cast the first few sets.

The masters.
One of the skellies in place. He's got a headache he just can't shake.

And here are some of the casts.

I sanded the base of a few and gave them a coat of primer

I gave one of the bases a very (very) quick paint job to get an idea of how they will look finished.

I'm quite happy how it turned out. I added a few small pieces of greenery for moss growing between the stones.

When I actually do the bases for the models I will try and match the colours of the bases to the Quest tiles. So each 'unit' will have tiles linked to one of the Quest tiles. Of course that will probably mean that unit will never end up turning up in that tile.

Will try and get the skeletons done next week, working on them round the Karrier and Drone.

Recalcitrant Daze - Warhammer World Weekend 1

Over the weekend a few brave souls went to Nottingham to spend three days gaming.

It was an enjoyable experience and allowed me (for the first time ever) to actually field a completely painted force. Something many will find shocking.

We dabbled with Warhammer Quest, Space Hulk, Zone Mortalis and Battlefleet Gothic. We would also of played Aeronautica Imperialis, but there was a slight glitch with that which I will not go into...

Warhammer Quest...oh the memories...

So anyway, here are some pictures I snapped during the ZM and BFG games...

Zone Mortalis Game 1:

Plaguebearers slowly assaulting the Corsair squad belonging to Maelstrom

In the distance the annoying Space Wolf leaders
prepares another cowardly psychic attack.

The Zone Mortalis board at WHW in full,
at the far end is Maelstrom trying to remember how to play 40k.

The Nurglings heroically throwing themselves at the
Space Puppy Termies belonging to Nife.

And the unfortunately result. Poor buggers.

The final position. The Corsairs hold the central objective while the Space Wolves are far behind due to being held up by the Daemons. The Herald is the only Deamon left however...

Zone Mortalis Game 2:

For this game my Daemons allied with the Corsair band, while the Space Wolves were backed up with some Orks...surely a sign that they aren't proper Marines?

The Green Tide ready to roll.

The Helbrute and Chaos Marine squad on the start line.

Burnas being all sneaky.

Bloody Deepstrike mishap table.

The Helbrute and Termies face off.

The game ends with Chaos the winner, though another turn
and the Burna Boyz and the Termies would of swung things 180.

A couple of army shots:

My Nurgle Force

Renegade Chaos Marines from Maelstrom
(minus the five cultists he didn't finish painting)

Battlefleet Gothic:

Maelstrom and Nife learning BFG.
I'm not sure what the face Nife is pulling means. I think it is his 'thinking' look.
We didn't see it often.

The Last Pair - Maelstroms Navy Cruiser takes on the
Chaos Cruiser of Nife for the game.

The best I have managed to get of the entire Plague Fleet.

Next up a post showing some pictures I took of anything I saw worth taking pictures of...

...plus some recruits to the Nurgle force.
