Lootin' Tutorial - Part Four

Well, it’s been a while since I have done one of these.

Back in December 2016 I put up my Looting Tutorials, after previously appearing on Bell of Lost Souls. After a recent mention on Twitter, I thought I would do a quick Part 4 to cover an additional technique.

Curved Surfaces.

Looted Repulsor Tank 2

Here is the current state of the Looted Repulsor.

Still a fair bit to do, but it has certainly moved on since the last post.

The one rear exhaust got replaced with an Orky one:

The other gubbins were added to the rear including the hear shields - one standard, one ork. These aren't glued in place.

One light got replaced and the left side of the tanks got up Orkified.

I then looked to the system to attach the trailer. Movement in two axis which will have to be enough.

Note the Grot door below to allow a Grot to head out and unhook the trailer if required (a volunteer I am sure).

So with the trailer in place it looks like this:

I will have to do a base for this as it isn't practical to use (or display) without one.

Rivet count now up to 1011.

Looted Repulsor Tank 1

It's been a while since I have done one but I have started to loot a tank.

Very little in the way of planning, i'm just designing it as I go along.

Hull with magnetised weapon and drivers station,

WIP turret...

And with the main weapon in place:

The vehicles will also get a little trailer to drag around:

All for today, hopefully get more done to allow an update soon.

In the meantime if you want to see day to day progress keep an eye on my twitter feed - @Rictus40k

Oh, if you are interested Rivet Count is currently 481.

Lootin' Tutorial - Part One

After joining Twitter I began showing some of my Ork builds, from a question or two on there I realised it was a long time since I did my Ork Lootin' articles for Bell of Lost Souls. So I thought I would revisit them and post them up on Recalcitrant Daze...

This three part article will follow my progress as I turn three old Leman Russ tanks into Looted Wagons, covering everything from concept to the finished build. This first part covers the basics and also the benefits of doing a mock up.

Mekboy Junka 35 - And done...

...I hope.

As promised I gave the Junka a quick spray of grey primer to bring everything together and to highlight anything that may need to be done.

As far as I can see there isn't. I added the extra couple of magnets to the SAG turret but otherwise nothing has changed on the Junka since the last time.

So here is the picture dump...

Fingers crossed the customer is happy with it and I can get it boxed up and shipped out...

I admit at times it has been a struggle to get this done, I do these commissions for the joy of building something Orky, but I think I have now reached the limit where it has become more of a chore to get done than something to so because I enjoy doing it.

As such this is going to be the last commission for a while at least. I am going to get some Orks done for myself now (the Zone Mortalis force) and after that I shall be a Green Free zone for the rest of the year at least. My time can go towards my own projects like getting the Militia sorted and the ZM board painted. Oh and the rest of my Nurgle Daemons painted.

Mekboy Junka 34 - Almost there...

So the Junka is on the verge of being finished.

Tomorrow (weather dependant) I want to give it a quick coat of grey primer to bring it all together and help spot anything I may have missed.

Since the last update I've done a few things...

Deff Rolla -

I've glued the Rolla into the one support arm and added a brass pin to the other one. The has made the whole thing much more stable and also allowed the Rolla to be fixed in the one position allowing me to add the spikes.

All those spikes were cut from Kan & Dredd shoulder pads. Quite a lot of them. I have a few more in the post so when they arrive i'll add the last few spikes.

The Junka can be handled easily now without the Rolla moving, it's nice and stable.

Shown below is the Ork Glyph I added to the plain area beside the drivers cab.

Shokk Attack Gun Turret -

I added the last two arms on the front and also finished the Snotling box on the back.

The Glyphs on the rear are "Runt" for Snotlings (on the left) and "Shokka" the glyph for a Shokk Attack Gun.

And some pictures of the whole vehicle:

Note in the pic above you can see the exhaust on the back has been added. Had to go with that one as the others got hit by the SAG turret as it turns.

And the parts break down like this:
