Ork Kopta Karrier 26

So after two evenings (well one and a half due to a headache yesterday) the decking is all laid. Obviously there is a lot left to do with it, namely more plating, details and a bucket full of rivets.

I cut out the footprint for the buildings. These will slot into the holes and stay in place with magnets (or at least that is the current plan).

Rokkit Launcha is up and running, added the magnets. I'll be adding more plating round it so that the removeable piece slots under them and is then held by the magnets.

The Deff Arsenal turret had a bit more work so that the turret doesn't fall out...

So here are the original mock up buildings in place along with the forward turret so you can get an idea of how it all should look:

Next job will be to continue with the decking, adding all details etc. This will bea full days work at least. After that it'll be onto the buildings.

I may though spend tomorrow back on the Drone...keeping things 'fresh'.

Blessings of the Plaguefather - Blight Drone 5

The Drone now has some quite a bit of paint on it...so I thought i'd do a PIP update.

Keep in mind there is still more to do including adding some oil washes and a shed load of rust.

I'm getting the Drone finished before I start on the base, partly because I haven't decided yet what colour to do the tree. I am thinking of off white - like a silver birch.

Tomorrow i'll be back on the Karrier so there won't be a Drone update for a few days.

Ork Kopta Karrier 25

Well the turret is pretty much done now. Chance at the end I might come back for a few extra details but for now I am moving on to the next thing.

So Rokkit Launcha added, vent added, access hatch and ladder added.

The turret base was riveted and had a vent added. This base will next be glued to the deck itself and more detail added around it - hence no rivets on the sides at the moment.

And with the guns in place:

According to my records* the turret and base have 486 rivets. Which to be honest is a bit silly. But anyway the running total...

* Yes, I do have records of the rivets added to the tank. And yes, this is a very sad thing to have.

So the turret is almost completed.

Still need to sort the Rokkit Launcha bit and do some more detailing here and there.

And to finish...drum roll...

Blessings of the Plaguefather - Blight Drone 4

As I am out tonight I won't be able to do an update on the Karrier - more work was done yesterday but I will wait till tomorrow/Saturday before doing another update on the Deff Arsenal turret - instead I thought I would do a quick update on the Blight Drone.

Not a huge amount done since the last update but I used some LGS on the gunk to refine the shape and also to reinforced the glue used.

While I was at it I grabbed a shot of the base, showing the skeletal remains knocking around.

Rather than continuing to play around with the base I went ahead and undercoated the whole lot. If I hadn't I would still be doing stuff to it in a months time.

Hopefully will start to get some paint on it this weekend.

Ork Kopta Karrier 23

So...I started building the Deff Arsenal turret...

The base was knocked up. The turret will drop into the hole. I will add later either magnets or lugs to stop it falling out. The core of the turret itself has been built but overall it is very, very WIP. The front looks short of being half done but the basic and most important thing (and the time consuming thing) is sorted - namely the position and fixing of the guns.

Above you can see the FW gun, the Baneblade cannon and the Necron gun all in place. Due to the weight I added some metal discs. There is a lot more to be added around the gun bases, more areas will be built out in there - in fact the BB cannon may be pushed forward slightly but all that won't be worked on till the top sectionhas been added.

The top section is another circular piece mocked up below.

And in place on the Karrier:

The area on the right of the turret is where the Rokkit Launcha Tubes will be positioned.

Keep in mind the above is very early in the build. There is a lot to be added structurally let alone detail wise. But as I have a feeling it will be several days of work before it is finished I thought i'd do an update to show the progress.

Recalcitrant Daze - 20 Months Down.

Something to cheer every reader up.

For only the second time I am a day late for doing my monthly post. But I was out all day yesterday running round some woods shooting people with small plastic balls. By the time I got back I was too knackered to do anything.

To be honest there isn't much worth writing, but I feel contractually oblidged to do something so lets all just accept it and do our best to get through the following.

This month has seen more Nurgle (in the form of the Drone) and more Orks (in the form of the Karrier). This will continue for a while, though the plan tomorrow is to undercoat the Warhammer Ghouls so I can paint them for Warhammer Quest. Same time I'll undercoat the Drone.

I shall knock on with the karrier as well, still only 50/50 with the Deff Arsenal design but I shall take the plunge and start cutting and gluing styrene. If it ends up not good enough i'll just have to start again (the turret, not the whole tank).

I would do a bit today but my ebay auctions are in the process of ending so it'll be an evening of boxes, bubble wrap and tape for me. Clearouts are a hassle but it will be good to get the space back and the cash will come in handy, especially as I put in an order to FW a week back (more on that when the stuff arrives).

Over Xmas I hope to get a lot done. However I say that every year and rarely does it turn out that way. I will be getting in a couple of games at least so the Nurgle Deamons will be getting a run out once more in ZM with a few CSM allies to bulk them out to 1000 points.

Other than that I will be working on Nurgle, the Karrier and Quest bits over Xmas. Working around the things I can't get out of ('family') I should get something done I am sure...

Talking about intentions to get work done but rarely managing it I thought I would point you in the direction of this blog, Nife's Blog of Occasional Brushwork as if he gets some more followers it may make him actually do more stuff and remember to post...though in fairness he actually updated today.

That I think is that. I shall get to my packing. Hurrah.
