Funnily enough FW made their containers in exactly the same was I am planning to do mine (with the 'rings' making up the body with end pieces and internal detail).
Was there any hint that those shipping containers would be available in the future because there's a mould at FW for those bad boys defo with the amount that's on that board. No way they made that many by hand. They would be an awesome addition. Only Sarrissa Precision and maybe a few other companies make shipping containers good enough for 40K or Infinity. Great shots.
The shipping containers were 3D printed and cast up. They did think about selling them but when they worked out the costs it was coming in at something like £40 for 2 of them, they decided this was too much and so they won't be on sale. However they will re-look at it in the future, either selling as they are now if the demand is there or finding a way to do them cheaper.
Interestingly I found out while talking to Andy Hoare that FW designed them exactly the same way I am designing my shipping container - including have internal detail with treadplate floors.
Thats a shame but youre right £40 for 2 is a bit steep. Although they do make awesome additions and I would love to get some to add to my FW Cityscape tiles which i am fortunate enough to own. The Thunderhawk landing pad is also a future purchase for me going from the limited pictures. Its a shame they stopped making the 'Trailers' too for the Trojan. They were awesome and also rare to find on eBay just like the fantastic Anphelion base terrain. Particularly the Landing Pad.
holy crap that is an outstanding board. I am curious how one could replicate the crane in the center.
ReplyDeleteIf you can afford enough GW kits it can be done as everything on the board was kitbashed using GW terrain and vehicle parts.

DeleteThat board is amazing! My second thought. "I wonder how many lost dice are on that board"
