As mentioned in the last post I wanted the Necromunda figures to be more than just run of the mill gangers, Each needs to be a character in their own right.
Our plan for the Necromunda is to play it more freely without the constraints of a gang and campaign, narrative driven games and character led forces. We will get creative with the models we build and I also plan in giving each one a back story of some kind.
So here is the first two biographies, The Good Doctor and The Sisters.
The Good Doctor
No
one remembers a time when The Good Doctor was not offering his services to the
denizens of the Underhive. His name graces the history of many a family with bedtime
tales told by parents of a great uncle or great grandmother being patched up or
gaining a bionic by the robed figure who appears in a time of need. He is just
part of the background…part of the Hive. People would not question where he
came from or why he is there anymore than they would question the many
bulkheads that make up their world. He provides a service, one that comes with
no questions asked, all for a very reasonable
price.
While
he seems to never change over the years those who accompany him, providing
assistance in his work or helping the each transaction to go smoothly, do
change. No one knows or really cares where these assistants come from or eventually
end up.
Those
who have received his attention speak of having a sense of unease in his
presence. They find while he will interact with then his head will not linger
but instead drift away, as though distracted by other matters. However the
Servo Skull hardwired into his body never wavers in its calculating gaze…gangers’
joke that it’s like the Servo skull itself was in fact The Good Doctor and the
head which bobs around is nothing more than a poor attempt to seem human…
The Sisters,
Patience and Honesty De Mort.
As
he looked upon his two twin girls he knew he couldn’t lose them to the gangs.
Their mother was already lost, lost to the life of a ganger and the thrill of
running with her ‘family’. They must
look to the Emperor to help guide them in life, with his stewardship his girls
will be safe and with that his own life will have been worth something.
Patience and Honesty looked into his eyes and made no sound.
They
mirrored each other so perfectly he took to dressing one in red and one in
black so he could be sure who was who. They were quick of wit and quick of movement.
Intelligence shone from their eyes yet barely a word passed their lips. He
puzzled that while they would reply to his attempts at conversation they never exchanged
words with anyone else…including each other, yet appeared to know the mind of
the other without fail. Acting in unison without a need it seemed to agree on a
course of action.
Amongst
the corridors of the hab blocks they grew and explored. The two quiet girls
would be found silently watching people as they worked, fought or tried to
enjoy the few moments of peace found in a
Hivers life. Furtive looks in their direction grew; rumours of their behaviour
spread and words of disquiet were soon being muttered in deliberate volumes to
be over heard.
He
had to act. The Emperor gave him the will and strength to protect his girls.
Gathering up his few belongings and Credits and with Patience to his right and
Honesty to his left he led them hand in hand into the Underhive.
Of
the strange girls and the anxious father memories faded and the whispered conversations
between their former neighbours passed onto other concerns and worries. The
cycle of short life and painful death continued on its path.
On
his journeys amongst those he claimed to be his friend and patients The Good
Doctor passed through a hab block, just like every other hab block in every
Hive on Necromunda, weary eyes watched him pass, some with worry, others with
patient hope. Following behind came his two companions. In silence they moved,
creations clad in cold steel with a gaze that burned with intelligence and
something hard to define.
All but identical in design
yet marked out as different as one came in red, while the other came in black.
These are the first drafts, I'm sure I'll tweak them somewhat as I build on The Good Doctor's history and build more characters.
Love it!
ReplyDeleteCheers, should be worth the extra effort.
