Mekboy Junka 8

Quick update on the tracks. I've added the new road wheel, I glued it in place then pinned it for extra strength.

I then detailed around the new wheels:

I'm going to leave the track off for now as it is spiky and will make the tank a bugger to handle.

Last update on the Junka till next week as this weekend it is our twice annual meet up, so expect some updates instead on games being played...

Zone Mortalis - A nod to a fellow blog.

As those who have followed Recalcitrant Daze for a while will know I have sold moulds of the Zone Mortalis pillars to allow people to knock up their own ZM boards to try the game out.

Recently one of those who picked up a mould dropped me an email with a link showing what he had produced and I thought I would share.

Building a Zone Mortalis Board

His group, the Cold Steel Mercenaries put far more work into the board than I have (I still have plans to do a 'proper' board one day...).

They also have a battle report up which like the rest of the blog is worth checking out.

Mekboy Junka 7

Forward turret is now done:

Two Twin Linked Big Shootas setup:

Two Kustum Mega Blasta setup:

And the forward turret components:

The guns are (of course) magnetised. I also added a small magnet to the top so that the top plate rotates with the turret.

Mekboy Junka 6

Just a quick update tonight, due to football on TV and having guests round earlier...

I got a bit more work done, for starters a small bit of gubbins:

The main thing I worked on last night though was the forward turret. Some of this was just cleaning up the weapons and started to work on a little piece to be mounted with them - these can wait till more work is done.

But the bulk of the work was on the top piece:

The pintle mount will be removed later.

The top piece is more than just decorative though, it is the pin which holds the forward turret in place while still letting it rotate. It means the turret can be removed for painting and possibly to allow an alternative turret to be put in place in the future.

I am going to be busy for most of the weekend but I should get enough time in on the Junka to allow for an update sometime over the next few days.

Mekboy Junka 5

After what seems a long time an actual update with a model...

Moved forward somewhat since the last update. Still lots of detail to add to the upper deck, plus of course the forward turret needs to be finished off and the main turret done. Oh and the track.

Should get more done tonight so probably another update around the weekend (though I'll be building a shed this weekend).

Recalcitrant Daze - Getting Back On The Horse

...metaphorically speaking obviously.

So due to the weather I can't build my shed. This did mean I had time free with nothing really to do for the first time in a few weeks.

Cue tidying my desk up and breaking out the model stuff.

I found the box with the Ork Commissions in and had a look at the state of the Junka:

As you may spot I now have some TL Big Shootas for the turret. I picked them up off a bits store before I moved.

I did do a bit of work on the Junka earlier, but i'll save that for a proper update in a day or two.

The other thing I had a look at was Dark Future. I picked this up off eBay a month or two back. I haven't played it for decades...

I put the cars together, though I have left the weapons off for now.

The only thing I have done is put up a couple of pictures.

Top one is the DA Codex cover I picked up from Warhammer World, while the lower one is the signed limited print I picked up from the Heresy Weekender.

The next post on here will be a proper update, showing actual work done on models...

Recalcitrant Daze - Update 2

Follow up to the last post, the hobby stuff is on the way to being all sorted...

The cupboard has shelves and is now full:

Still need one small shelf to put in there.

Couldn't get everything in obviously...

Under the desk

Bits boxes and carry case full of models.

And in the corner

The top box contains the Ork commission vehicles, the one below it the Heresy Deathguard waiting for attention. The box on the floor has the ZM pillars in.

I also found my missing tools.

Which was nice.

Recalcitrant Daze - Update

So I moved into a new house a fortnight ago, hence the lack of any activity on Recalcitrant Daze.

Things are gradually coming together and my hope is within the next week I will be back to working on some models.

At the moment my hobby stuff looks like this...

My desk is almost together, however I am yet to find some of my tools. I definitely packed them, it is just finding what I packed them in is the question. In a box somewhere...

As you can see there are plenty of boxes in various places. Hopefully this weekend will see them far better organised (and with that the discovery of my missing tools).

Still got more to sort out in the house but there will be time free for model stuff. I have the Junka to finish so that will be the priority, however as it has been a while I may do something quick first to 'get my eye in'.
